Meeting Schedule

Are you feeling “disconnected?”  The CPC Parent Organization is here to help!  All parents are invited to attend the following informative CPC meetings which are held in the VHHS Library.

2011-2012 CPC Meetings

September 8th General Board and New Parent Information Meeting ** 6:00 pm
During this meeting VHHS staff members will familiarize parents with the many resources available at the high school.  We will also discuss school events, student activities, important dates, community service opportunities and ways parents can get involved such as coat check volunteers at dances, Healthy Lifestyle Fair, Adopt-a-Family, Staff Appreciation, Max Schewitz Foundation EKG testing, Career Expo and the Spirit Store.

Representatives from the coalition, Community Partnership for Healthy Youth, will be joining us to discuss the work being done in the community, in the school, with our students and with our parents to help our students make good LIFE choices as they relate to alcohol and substance abuse.

September 8th - Class of 2012 Senior Party Parent Information Meeting ** 7:00 pm (Immediatly following the General Board Meeting)
This is a meeting for all Senior and Junior parents.  Come to listen to information about the event or consider getting involved in a committee to plan the Class of 2012 Senior Party – a very popular student event that parents provide for their graduates.  It is a safe and fun way for them to celebrate their success over the past four years.  Junior parents are encouraged to work on committees to get an inside look at what you will do for your graduating class

April 17th - Preparing Parents and their Senior Student for College ** 7:00 pm
A panel of VHHS Alumni Parents share helpful hints and tips for preparing to send your graduate off to college.  This meeting will include an update on end-of-the-year activities (finals, prom, graduation and senior party).

 2012 Staff Appreciation Luncheon

On Friday, May 11th the CPC will host our annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon in honor of all the teachers, staff and administration who have worked tirelessly and remained dedicated to our students and school throughout the 2011/2012 school year.  We are in need of monetary donations as well as parent volunteers to help at the luncheon.  Click here to download a volunteer/donation form.

2011 VHHS Adopt-a-Family

On December 15th the Cougar Parent Connection will host the annual VHHS Adopt-A-Family Dinner.  Here's how you can help:

Monetary Donations:

This year the CPC has made it easier than ever for you! We are in need of monetary donations to purchase the holiday food and supplies, which will help us to serve more than 300 people in need. Please send your monetary donation to:

VHHS Main Office Attention: CPC/Adopt-A-Family (click here to download a volunteer/donation form)

Baked Goods:

Prefer to cook? We'd love your home baked desserts to serve to our guests as well.

Dining Room Set-Up/Decorations:

We need 10-15 people on December 15th from 3:30 to 5:30 to help us set up.

 General Volunteers:

  • Food Line Servers
  • Help plate the desserts
  • Bus tables-bring out food and drinks to families
  • Dish washers - clean utensils and platters used in serving

Clean-Up Crew:

We need 20 people to help clean up after our event from 6:30-7:30.

To volunteer for any of the above send an email to vhhsadoptafamily@gmail.com and let us know how many people from your family will be volunteering and for which jobs. VHHS students will be signing up on Nov. 23rd at school. This event has been a great success because of the support of our VHHS families.

Volunteer Sign In:

Please arrive at 5 pm on Thursday December 15th and meet in front of the main doors of the gym. We will have sheets posted with your volunteer assignments/table assignments.

Purcahse VHHS Cougar Gloves:

Warm your hands and your hearts while supporting VHHS Adopt-a-Family!!! Order a pair (or two!) of custom-designed VHHS gloves.  These gloves are a warm, blue knit and feature a white paw print and VHHS logo on the back and the words of the school song on the palm. What a great gift for your student Cougar, and also a subtle way to remind yourself of what comes after "Go, Cougars, Go" when singing the school song. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward the Adopt-A-Family all-school service project, in which 3rd-period classes buy presents for needy Lake County families. The gloves are $8 a pair and come in sizes S, M and L. Click here for an order form.  Orders accepted until 8 a.m. Mon Nov 14. Helping others makes you feel good and warm inside!!

Help Wanted!!!!

Help make the most of your child’s high school years by getting involved.  No matter what your talents are, we have an opportunity for you!  Please contact Kathi McHenry jimkathi@comcast.net to add your name to one or more of the following volunteer lists for upcoming CPC-sponsored events.  You can also visit the CPC table at the Parent Open House on September 13th for additional information or to sign up.

October 2rd – Cougar Classic

Sponsored by the Health & Wellness Committee and benefiting the American Heart Association. This event will take place at Big Bear Lake. Many volunteers are need to help with this event.

Coat Check

The CPC helps with coat check at various school dances.  We could use your help checking in coats, purses and other belongings while students attend the dance in the main gym.

October 20th – Healthy Lifestyles Fair & Career Expo October 26th

Because this student activity takes place during the lunch periods, it appeals to those who can volunteer time during the school day.  This opportunity typically involves serving popcorn or another simple snack to the students once they complete the Lifestyle Fair activities.  This is another great chance to visit with your child and his/her friends as they stop by our table to grab a snack at the end of their lunch hour.  Sign up to work a 1 or 2 hour shift.  Again, no experience required!

 December 15th - Adopt-A-Family Dinner

This committee coordinates the dinner for the families hosted by our VHHS Students and Staff.  Volunteers are needed to solicit food donations from VHHS Parents and area restaurants, as well as help plan and serve dinner.  A remarkable and rewarding event that combines the efforts of VHHS Students, Parents and Staff, it is guaranteed to be the highlight of the season.

May 4th - Staff Appreciation Luncheon
This committee organizes our Teacher/Staff end-of-the-year luncheon.  This event is unquestionably a staff favorite!!

Spirit Store Coordinator

The coordinator manages the Spirit Store, which sells Cougar Wear and other school-spirited items at various sporting events, fine arts presentations, and other school-sponsored events throughout the year.  The Spirit Store is a vital part of fundraising for all CAB, CAST and CPC.

Spirit Store Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to work at the Spirit Store during home athletic events and school lunch periods every other Friday.  You can volunteer for as many or few days as your schedule allows.  No experience is needed.  Please email Shari April at vhhsspiritstore@comcast.net if you are interested in volunteering.  Below is the Spirit Store’s 2011/12 schedule.
