¨            Get to class on time—The VHHS tardy policy will be followed.

¨            Follow the classroom guidelines and important rules.

¨           Participation in various activities is very important, will be doing various group activities

           and working cooperatively during class.

Attendance Policies:

**** If you miss a day of class, you are responsible for the following:

-Turn in the homework that was due (write ABSENT on the top)

-Get the notes and daily outcomes from a friend

-Schedule a time outside of class to meet with me if you have any other questions

**If absent the day before or day of a test you will be required to take the test the day you return.

¨            The school attendance policy will be followed for absences

Homework Policies:

¨            Homework will be assigned and collected on a regular basis.

¨            Quality work is expected at all times.

¨            Late assignments will be accepted before the test for partial credit.

¨            Each student is responsible for missed work, regardless of the reason.  If you are absent the day the assignment is due, it is due the day you return.

¨            Reading and other comprehension quizzes may be given at any time.

¨            Missed quizzes, tests, and labs must be made up in a timely fashion.  It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with the teacher for all make up work.

¨            Extra credit opportunities will be announced during the semester.

¨            The testing center will be used for any tests and quizzes that need to be made up.

Grading Policy:

¨      The final exam is worth 20% of the semester grade and the student is expected to take the final during the scheduled time period unless they have three finals in one day.

¨      Students should keep track of their own assignments and points as the semester progresses.  This can be done with the use of our online PASS system.

¨      Grade updates will be completed at the end of each unit, with the collection of assignments and the unit evaluation.

¨      Honesty is a valued trait, but unfortunately at times it becomes an issue.  Because of this concern, students found cheating on any assignment, quiz, or test will receive a zero grade for the activity.  This includes plagiarism and the use of electronic devices, including iPods.

¨      The grading policy

                        A= 90-100

                        B=80-89

                        C=70-79

                        D=60-69

                        F=below 60

***You can expect me to provide you with a respectful, comfortable, challenging and of course fun, learning environment.  You will learn more about the world around you and gain key critical thinking skills along the way. ***
