Why would anyone want to be in the Variety Show? Jessica Ni gives us a few very good reasons. Take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTSekSXv9_Q". (Tracy 11/24)
According to the Chicago Tribune, 1 in 10 U of I Freshmen is from China. It sounds scary, but we often fear what we do not know. Experience the world’s fastest growing economy, most populous nation, and one of the oldest existing cultures while you ask yourself the touch questions about individual rights and sovereignty. You do not need to speak Chinese to be a part of this incredible experience. China 2015 has two more information meetings scheduled @VHHS on Wednesday, December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in the IRC and @ LHS on Monday, December 8th at 7:30 p.m. in Room 1107 near the main entrance. GEOGRAPHY AWARENESS WEEK: The newest genetically modified potato releases less of a chemical suspected to cause cancer when fried. Genetically modified foods are becoming more common within our food supply. Many see them leading to greater production to meet growing demand, though others are critical of the unknown long-term consequences of eating food whose DNA has been altered. Thank you to everyone who participated in Geography Awareness Week. Keep in mind three quarters of recent high school graduates say geography is “very important” to their careers. Increase your awareness of the world around you. (Caton 11/24)
