The Day of Silence is today. So, what is it all about? Have you ever felt that you needed to keep a secret from people around you? Every day LGBTQ+ youth feel they must hide who they are from their family, friends, teachers, and others because of harassment, prejudice, and discrimination they encounter. In effect, they are silenced. The students participating in the Day of Silence echo the suppression of identities. Today is a step toward fighting the injustices our classmates experience. Think about the voices you are not hearing. What are you going to do to end the silence? (Bomgaars 4/17)
